MM Ballroom ("we", "us", "our") runs the website mmballroom.com and a private dance studio in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, why we collect it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we only collect what we need to answer you, book your lessons and, if you ask for it, send you our newsletter. We never sell your information.

2. Information you give us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message.
  • Book a lesson form: the lesson you're interested in, who will be dancing, your experience level, the days and times that suit you, your name, email address, phone number and any notes you add (for example your wedding song or date).
  • Newsletter sign-up: your email address.
  • Email, phone and social media: anything you choose to send us when you contact us directly.

Please don't send us sensitive information (such as health details or payment card numbers) through the website forms.

3. Information collected automatically

  • Cookies: small files stored in your browser. Necessary cookies remember your cookie choices. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them (see section 5).
  • Analytics: if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use, your approximate location (city or region) and how you found our site. We use this only in summary form to understand which pages are useful and to improve the website.
  • Server logs: like every website, our hosting server automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the date and time of your visit. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running.

4. How we use your information

  • To reply to your questions and messages.
  • To schedule, confirm and manage your lessons.
  • To send you our newsletter, if you signed up for it.
  • To understand how visitors use the website and make it better.
  • To keep the website secure and prevent spam and abuse.
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations.

We only send marketing emails to people who signed up for them. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

5. Cookies and your consent

When you first visit the website, a cookie banner lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or choose by category:

  • Necessary: required for the website to work and to remember your cookie choice. These are always on.
  • Functional, Analytics, Performance and Advertisement: only used if you allow them. We currently use analytics cookies (Google Analytics). We do not use advertising cookies.

You can change your choice at any time by clicking the cookie icon in the bottom left corner of the website. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

6. Services that help us run the website

We use a small number of trusted service providers. They process information on our behalf and only for the purposes described here:

  • Hostinger: website hosting.
  • Google Workspace: our email, including messages sent through the website forms.
  • Google Analytics: website statistics, only with your consent. Google Privacy Policy
  • Google Fonts: the fonts on our website are loaded from Google's servers, which receive your IP address when a page loads.
  • Mailchimp (Intuit): our newsletter. Intuit Privacy Statement
  • CookieYes: the cookie banner and a record of your consent choice.
  • OpenFreeMap: the map on our website. Map images are loaded from their servers, which receive your IP address.
  • Facebook and Instagram: we link to our social media pages. If you follow those links, the privacy policies of Meta apply.

Some of these providers may store data outside your state or country. We choose providers that protect personal information with appropriate safeguards.

7. When we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it:

  • with the service providers listed above, so they can do their job for us;
  • when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our students or the public;
  • with your permission.

8. How long we keep it

  • Messages and booking requests: for as long as we need them to stay in touch and manage your lessons, and for up to 3 years after our last contact with you.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics data: kept by Google Analytics for up to 14 months.
  • Records we must keep by law (for example payments): for as long as the law requires.

9. Your choices and rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • tell you what personal information we have about you;
  • correct information that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete your information;
  • stop sending you emails.

Depending on where you live (for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or certain U.S. states), you may have additional rights, such as receiving a copy of your data or objecting to how we use it. To make a request, email us at info@mmballroom.com. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.

10. How we protect your information

The website uses a secure HTTPS connection, and we limit access to your information to the people who need it to run the studio. No method of sending or storing data online is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

11. Children

Our website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian is booking lessons for a child, the parent or guardian should contact us directly. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new service. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
